Residents want a safer Sierra Bonita
On a rainy day in May (the 17th, 2025), Council member Rick Cole (D2) and Council member Jayson Lyon (D7) accompanied 50-60 cyclists on a tour of the future Greenways of Pasadena. As a reminder, the proposed Greenways are Sierra Bonita, Craig, El Molino, and Wilson.
As a show of support for the council members’ efforts, more than a dozen residents of Sierra Bonita, between Asbury and Whitefield have enthusiastically sent a letter to Council member Rick Cole to voice their support for the traffic calming efforts.
The letter mentions the number of children living in the area as well as the dangers faced by the students who walk and ride bicycles through the neighborhood to and from Marshall Fundamental School on Allen.
Rick Cole has shown support for the Greenways initiative and now he knows that the neighborhood supports Greenways too.
“As is, speeding cars are a constant threat. We have seen too many close calls
involving students walking to and from Marshall HS when school is in session and hope that
something can be done before tragedy strikes.”
Around 15 neighbors signed this letter of support for slower traffic speeds on Sierra Bonita.
