Pasadena residents REALLY want safe Greenways

On October 6, 2025, Pasadena residents lined up to speak in favor of safe Greenways, as the Pasadena City Council approved contracts for Greenways design and public outreach

What happened?

On October 6, 2025 the Pasadena City Council discussed contracts for design and public outreach for the four north/south Greenways. As they did at similar meetings in 2022 and 2023, Pasadena residents turned up in large numbers to support this project. Council received around 200 emails supporting the project, and 35 people gave live public comment in support. In the photo above, you can see a full house at City Council chambers with supporters waving SLOW DOWN signs in support of safe Greenways.

SO MANY people support safe Greenways, because everyone wants to live on a safe, quiet street!

The City Council approved both contracts unanimously with 5-to-0 votes. THANK YOU to council members Tyron Hampton, Rick Cole, Jason Lyon, Gene Masuda, and Steve Madison for voting yes to support these contracts! The other council members were forced to recuse themselves as they own property near the planned Greenways.

THANK YOU also to everyone who spoke, emailed, and helped spread the word about this important project!!!

Emails are linked from the meeting agenda item #6.

In the video recording of the City Council meeting, the discussion starts at around the 2 hour mark. I hope you’ll listen to the comments in the video below. Hearing from our community members is inspiring!

What’s next?

These contracts will allow a two year public outreach and design phase in 2026. There will be lots of public meetings to discuss possible designs of the greenways. To keep this project moving forward, those of us who want safer streets will need to keep to showing up and supporting safe Greenways!
